Sir Battlescarred is a Lalaloopsy character whose only appearance is in the Nick Jr. Series episode Nighty Knight. He is a brave knight who lives in a large medieval castle and carries around a wooden sword and shield. Sir mostly spends his time setting out and protecting the other Lalaloopsies from danger. Despite his bravery, deep inside he is actually scared of a lot of things.

Personality[]

Sir Battlescarred is overall a good-hearted, chivalrous young boy who speaks in words and phrases common in Early Modern English as he sets out to assist others in need. He is polite and courteous to all he helps, earning their respect and admiration for him in the process. His seemingly unwavering courage in the face of danger contributes to his public image as an unstoppable, intrepid hero.

Behind Sir Battlescarred's front of bravery, however, is a laundry list of fears. Some of his phobias are reasonable for his age, such as the dark, bugs, thunder, lightning, and getting lost. Along with other far more unusual fears consisting of green fruit with pink polka dots and yellow stripes, rocks that look like rabbits, hot soup, and horses with two tails. Whenever Sir Battlescarred is confronted with one of his phobias, he usually either screams like a girl, shivers, chatters his teeth, shields himself, hides, runs away, or attempts to avoid interacting with it however possible. Sir Battlescarred is also prone to getting startled by natural occurrences he mistakes as danger, such the sound of a stick being stepped on, the hooting of Bea's Owl, and Dragon's shadow. He calms down once he realizes there is no threat.

Sir Battlescarred's many phobias have led to him having insecurities about his role, feeling that he is not truly courageous enough to be a worthy knight. To Sir, he is brave in the eyes of everyone except his own. In spite of this, he still tries his best to be the gallant knight he aspires to become, and he is determined to overcome his fears no matter what.

When Sir Battlescarred obtains The Fear-Fighting Amulet, he instantly feels more confident and manages to overcome his fear of the dark, getting lost, and bugs. Later on, it is revealed the amulet was a mere placebo, and that Sir Battlescarred's capacity for courage was within him all along. While he still has not conquered all of his fears per se, he is on the right track.

Nick Jr. Series (Season 2)[]

Nighty Knight[]

One day when Spot is painting a snowman on top of a hill and ordering Zebra to tilt the snowman's head a bit more, the head falls off and gathers snow, leaving a giant snowball rolling towards Spot. Thankfully, Sir Battlescarred comes to the rescue, snowboarding down on his shield and blasting the snowball out of the way. Spot thanks Sir Battlescarred for saving her, and he then leaves.

Later on, Jewel gets stuck in a pile of jewels. Sir Battlescarred arrives to free Jewel from the jewels. Suddenly, Sir Battlescarred hears another cry for help and hurries off. He arrives to find Pix E. panicking while hanging from a step ladder, with Peanut watching her. Sir Battlescarred jumps into action, but, as he is carrying Pix E. down the ladder, he gets frightened by Firefly.

Eventually, Peanut and Pix E. show up outside Sir Battlescarred's castle and knock. Sir Battlescarred peeks out the castle window and notices Pix E. brought her "ferocious flutterbug" with her. To avoid having to see Firefly, Sir Battlescarred fakes a high, creaky voice in an attempt to convince the girls that he isn't home. Unfortunately for Sir Battlescarred, Pix. E can clearly see him looking out his window. Just as Sir Battlescarred tries to convince the two that the door isn't working, Pix E. and Peanut enter his castle. Pix E. starts thanking Sir Battlescarred for rescuing her until she notices he is cowering behind a suit of armor. The moment Firefly flies by him, Sir Battlescarred shrieks in terror and runs to hide under a wooden bench. Sir Battlescarred then admits that despite his image as a gallant knight, he is actually afraid of bugs. When Pix E. and Peanut try to reassure him, Sir Battlescarred laments that he has tried numerous methods to manage his fears, with none of them working.

Sir Battlescarred sees Pix E. get out the "Ancient Book of Magical Things", then finding a page that tells of an amulet, known as "The Fear-Fighting Amulet", that makes all fear disappear. Sir Battlescarred is excited to find the amulet, but when Pix E. reads that the amulet is hidden within the Cave of Impenetrable Darkness, he reveals that he is also deathly afraid of the dark. Still, Sir Battlescarred is determined to acquire the amulet no matter what, so he asks Pix E. and Peanut to join him on his quest, which they agree to.

On Sir Battlescarred and his friends' journey to the Cave of Impenetrable Darkness, Pix E. reads that the way to the cave is lit up by a shining arrow in the sky and deduces that the arrow is actually a star. So, she, Peanut, and Sir Battlescarred visit Dot's observatory. There, Dot reveals the arrow is a constellation that is difficult to spot without a telescope. Sir Battlescarred offers Dot to join his quest, and Dot accepts.

On his journey, Sir Battlescarred and the others come across Jewel, who tells them that she is on the lookout for a new necklace that she could wear for her royal portrait. Sir Battlescarred bids Jewel good luck on her search, wishing that her "path be smooth and strewn with flowers" while she leaves.

Sir Battlescarred later reveals to his friends that he has been leaving a trail of crumbs to follow home, only to realize it all has been eaten. Sir Battlescarred panics, claiming they all should turn back before it's night time. Pix E. reminds him that his noble quest is to find the Fear-Fighting Amulet. Sir Battlescarred is conflicted. On one hand, he fears the darkness and getting lost in the wilderness. On the other hand, he desires to go forth and find the amulet he hopes will cause all his fears and doubts to vanish. This goes on until it becomes sundown, with Sir Battlescarred still being undecided on whether he should go go forth or turn back. Dot points out that even if they all decided to head back home, it would be dark by the time they return. With this in mind, Sir Battlescarred decides to continue his noble quest for the Fear-Fighting Amulet.

As he and his friends journey on, Sir Battlescarred increasingly dreads the impending darkness. Dot gets out her telescope, only to discover there are rain clouds obscuring the constellation. Sir Battlescarred realizes that when there's rain clouds, there's a thunder shower. Thunder crashes, and Sir Battlescarred hides behind a rock nearby. Suddenly, lightning strikes a pile of large stones on top of a ledge, so Sir Battlescarred comes to the rescue and uses his shield to block the falling debris. When Dot gets out her telescope and spots the shimmering arrow in the sky pointing the way to the Cave of Impenetrable Darkness, Sir Battlescarred decides to carry on with his quest, though he is getting more and more apprehensive about the darkness.

At last, Sir Battlescarred and his friends have arrived at the Cave of Impenetrable Darkness. When Pix E. reveals to Sir Battlescarred that, according to the legend, he must traverse the cave alone, he is utterly appalled. He was hoping that sticking close with his friends would have made exploring the cave much less scary. Sir Battlescarred asks Pix E. if Dragon could come along with him; Pix E. gives him permission.

Sir Battlescarred, accompanied only by Dragon, ventures into the complete darkness of the cave. After exploring for a bit. Sir Battlescarred reaches the cave's end, still not having found the amulet. Suddenly, he hears his friends' cries for help, but he feels helpless too. Just as he has hit rock bottom, his shield inadvertently pushes on a stone that releases the Fear-Fighting Amulet. The instant Sir Battlescarred touches it, he feels all of his fears vanishing. He puts the amulet in his pocket and goes off to rescue his allies. Suddenly, the lantern burns out, but with the amulet in his possession, Sir Battlescarred no longer fears the dark. He still can't see, though. Sir Battlescarred shouts out for his friends, asking them if they can hear him. Dot, Peanut, and Pix E. tell him to follow their voices, but he can't because of the cave's echoing effect.

Sir Battlescarred ends up getting lost within the cave while looking for his friends. Just then, he catches the sight of a welcome glimmer of light, which turns out to come from Firefly. Sir Battlescarred follows him through the cave.

Firefly guides Sir Battlescarred to the ledge where Peanut, Dot, and Pix E. slipped off. Sir Battlescarred lifts his wooden sword and prepares to rescue his friends, unaware that his amulet has fallen out of his pocket in the process. He tries to use his sword to pull up his friends, but they can't reach. When Sir Battlescarred suggests they should climb out, Dot states that the slope is too steep while Pix E. claims that it is also as slippery as the hill by Mittens' house where they go sledding. The mention of sledding gives Sir Battlescarred an idea. He needs to tie a rope to his shield and use it as a sled to pull his pals up the slippery slope. The problem is that he doesn't have any rope. Thankfully, Firefly gives Sir Battlescarred vines to use as rope. Sir Battlescarred then ties the vines together as a rope, then ties that to his shield, creating a rope and pulley system.

With this in place, Sir Battlescarred saves the day by successfully pulling Peanut, Dot, and Pix E. back up to the ledge. After they all exit the cave, Sir Battlescarred credits his heroism to the amulet, but he realizes it's gone, having lost it in the cave while rescuing his friends. Dot, Peanut, and Pix E. point out that since Sir Battlescarred rescued them all in the dark with a bug without the amulet, his bravery was inside him all along. Thus, he doesn't need the Fear-Fighting Amulet after all. Nevertheless, Sir Battlescarred and Firefly go to retrieve the amulet out of the cave.

Now sunrise, when Jewel laments to Spot that she wasn't able to find a unique necklace for the portrait in time, Sir Battlescarred arrives to offer his amulet as a necklace for her. Jewel is ecstatic and sweetly thanks him for his kind gesture. Suddenly, Sir Battlescarred catches a glimpse of one of his greatest fears: green fruit with pink polka dots and yellow stripes! Sir Battlescarred runs off screaming in terror, with Dragon tagging along.
